Deviation Actions
It's not every day I get a Daily Deviation! I mean wow! I never thought I'd say that.
I'm speechless you guys. I woke up this morning and I was surprised to find that a Curly Pie strip of mine got featured. I didn't know what to do, I wanted to read more of your guys' comments but alas, I had a long day ahead of me and I had to hurry on to class. By the time I came back from my classes and finished running my personal errands for the day I was even more surprised to find how the response from fellow deviants continued to exponentiation at such a rate that I couldn't even imagine. Hearing fellow deviants respond to how my comic makes them laugh and happy really REALLY made my day. I honestly love nothing more than knowing I made a some people's day a little less sucky even if its a fraction with my silly little comic no less.
I really have to say this but, I know I've gotten quite a lot of attention in the past before for some fan art stuff I've done but never from something original, something that I can truly call my own and the fact that people love my work is just, gahhh WOW. Thank you so much <a href="Dust-bite.deviantart.com>Dust-bite for making my day a little more awesomer by featuring me, and thank you guys. So before I lose my ability to speak proper English AND START RAVING INCOHERENTLY ABOUT HOW AWESOME YOU GUYS ARE ILL LEAVE YOU WITH THIS.
A high ISO photo shot in a really dark room, I am a abomination to the photography world.
...
PS. Here's a small comic I made about my day today. I fixed up my old bike and I refilled its tires with air and I was on my way to get some stuff printed when I learned how horrible I am at steering.
AHHhhh I'm done here.
Designing a cartoon-style mermaid
Introduction Hello Everyone! I'm Edgar Covarrubias, otherwise known as Curly-Artist, and today I'm going to show you how I go about designing a mermaid intended for a watercolor illustration. I'm best known as an artist who draws cartoony illustrative mermaids (as well as other things). So if this is something that piques your interest or you are just curious about the work process then I hope this tutorial finds you well. Tools Although a lot of my mermaid work looks traditional I actually do all of my work digitally. I personally use a Wacom Cintiq with Photoshop CS6 along with “Kyle's Real Watercolor brushes”, (which should now be available to anyone who's using Photoshop CC). This doesn't mean you also have to use the same tools as I do. All you need is any decent drawing tablet and any digital art program that can mimic watercolors. Clip Studio Paint & Procreate can use watercolor brushes very convincingly as well. Let's Get Started Step 1 Let's start with designing a

Hey everyone! I'm open for commissions, so if you're interested in a drawing from me then please consider shooting me an email at "edgar@curlyartist.com" And if not, it's totally okay and I hope you folks have a nice day! :)
Oh, and if anyone's wondering about the turn around time. Depending on where you are on the queue, it should take a day or two or three, but nothing too much for the most part.
Wizard Palooza
Hey guys, it’s been awhile since I’ve done a journal. I hardly write journals these days because nothing of particular interest that warrants attention on Deviantart has happened as of late…however, today is not that day. I'm going to be talking about Wizard Palooza. #WizardPaloozaOCT (https://www.deviantart.com/wizardpaloozaoct)
Wizard Palooza is an Original Character Tournament (OCT) in which the contestants get paired up with another contestant and each artist draws each other's characters in a comic, wait a week or so, and either get kicked out or proceed to the next round by a panel of judges. Repeat this process for 5 rounds and we end up here. Me and :iconm
